I Don't Want To Cry Any More For Amir And Asif But I Want To Enjoy Cheema And Junaid

One thing I love about Pakistan and which is their ability to supply of fast bowlers. There will be nasty and frustrating controversies to spoil the careers of talented fats bowlers but it seems not to put any wrinkles on the forehead of the Pakistanis as talented merchant of speed and swing tends to crop up as soon as one leaves the scene.

Pakistan cricket have lost Mohammad Asif and Mohamamd Amir and their fans hopes and aspirations were centered upon Gul and Ajmal. But wait a second. It’s team Pakistan whose soil is fertile to crop the masters of the cherry. Azaiz Cheema and Junaid Khan are the products of the soil of Punjab who are just spreading the fragrance of the perfume ball in the world of cricket.

Misbah-ul-Haq’s decision to bowl on a flat track first simply annoyed me. But it was being made bold by some inspiring and fantastic stuff by two protégé of Pakistan cricket, Azaiz Cheema and Junaid Khan.

Cheema, 32, displayed the tireless zeal of a player made to wait almost ten years for his Test debut. He was at Sri Lanka throughout his spells, even hitting Mahela Jayawardene on the helmet grill when the batsman failed to get out of the way of a short one. Cheema's aggression was such that it made the Lankans to treat the benign Sheikh Zayed Stadium surface with the extreme respect that an overcast Headingley morning would deserve.

Cheema is a dangerous bowler. His knowledge on length is sound and the ability to keep the ball up to the batsmen with an off-stump line simply makes him a difficult customer to deal with. Rather than relying on shoulder too much, Cheema relies more on wrists to generate sharp movements even on a benign track at Abu Dhabi. Not a merchant of speed like Wasim or Waqar but he is more like a Fazal Mahmood. Cheema is certainly a prospect which needs care and support.

As soon as Cheema triggered a panic in the Lankan batting order, the young left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan decided to have a go at the Lankan batsmen. He took the ball, ran in, gathered the momentum set up by Cheema and went on to pick up his maiden five wickets haul in Test cricket. I onece said that Junaid Khan is here to stay and he will make all of us forget Mohammad Amir.

Cheema is dangerous while Junaid is fluent and intelligent. Cheema exerts enough energy to script an aggressive environment on which the other speed merchants can utilize. On the other hand, Junaid has the ability to capitalize the situation suitable to take wickets.

I don’t want to cry any more for Mohammad Amir and Asif but I want to have my eyes enjoy the aggression of Cheema and the fluency of Junaid Khan.

Thank You
