I Want A Pakistani C.L.R James To Write A Book On Pakistan Cricket

Since their entry in Test cricket, team Pakistan has gifted cricket ‘Unpredictability’ which glorifies the great game of glorious uncertainty at its very best. As soon as the team came into Test cricket it has won the heart and soul of the cricket followers and became a part of cricket folklore with their charisma and brilliant individuality.

The Pakistan team dance to a different music. To many their nature of cricket has been a picture of controlled whims which might give the sense of madness but that madness bears a delight which switch onto the ‘Bhangra’ that leave the fans dancing.

The Pakistan side always has the element of danger. No matter which the team is, it always seems that the normal mechanism of control doesn’t exist. No Pakistan side will ever act as you expect.

This makes the team most excitingly and thrillingly watchable side in cricket. You never whether they would come together in an explosion sumptuous talent, or whether they will collapse like a soufflé. They might be cornered Tigers or cornered chickens. They might be majestic; they might tear an opponent into half or they might tear each other into halves. They are just like Alfred Hitchkok’s thriller movies. You never know what they are up to.

The fact is the Pakistan side is totally different from the rest of the world’s nature of cricket. It’s quiet un-English, un-Australian or un-South African. This very charismatic unpredictability has made the team suffer and has made it suspicious.

But this is what Pakistan cricket is all about. They are a bunch of excitable mob, exciting travelers of the glorious game of uncertainty who have spread the fragrance of unpredictability all over the world.  Pakistan has given cricket thrill and their beauty is just like the wild rose.

Circumstances have been such that it kicked Pakistan on their back, slapped on their faces several times, punched them hard, and broke their rib cage. But when they enter the field, an old man turns into a school boy while a school boy turns into billboards. This is Pakistan cricket is all about.

Some Pakistani writer must write C.L.R James’ ‘Beyond A Boundary’ in a Pakistani way. As their fan I would love to know what cricket means on an individual, a national, a racial basis in Pakistan.

The country’s current political turmoil undermines cricket. But their cricket, according to me, bears the tag of extreme dramas and thrills which deserves a closer observation than any other cricketing nation.

I hope someday, some Pakistani C.L.R James will come up with such work to earn praises and not controversies like Shoaib Akhtar.

Thank You
Faisal Caesar
